Hemp Extract Oil and Hemp Seed Oil: The Differences

Hemp is a subspecies of the Cannabis sativa plant, which has two main species - hemp and marijuana. Both contain CBD and THC, but hemp has high levels of CBD in its stems, flowers, and stalk. So, most CBD oil is extracted from the hemp plant and is typically synonymous with hemp extract oil or hemp oil.

New Spectrum’s “full spectrum” CBD or hemp extract oil means that our oil contains all of the cannabinoids that are found in the hemp plant in nature, many of which contain anti-inflammatory benefits, and not just CBD. It also includes flavonoids (plant pigments) and terpenes, the essential oils of the hemp plant that are known to have therapeutic benefits.

We also use cold-pressed hemp seed oil in many of our topical products. Hemp seed oil is extracted from the seeds of the Cannabis sativa plant. It is a carrier oil (like olive oil or sunflower seed oil) and does not contain active CBD. Hemp seed oil is high in antioxidants, amino acids, and omega fatty acids that are beneficial for skincare, and it has well-known moisturizing properties.

When shopping for a CBD lip balm, it’s important to make sure that the product has the proper ingredients in its formula – full spectrum CBD or hemp extract oil and hemp seed oil.

Our Replenishing Lip Balm, for example, is suitable for everyday use and for all types of skin. It protects lips with our full-spectrum organic hemp oil extract and hemp seed oil, along with super-healing ingredients such as sunflower oil, sweet almond oil, coconut oil, apricot oil, lemon oil, grapeseed oil, honey, vitamin E oil, jojoba oil, beeswax, and aloe vera for all-day moisture. Gently apply a coating to lips as often as desired to relieve discomfort.

Replenishing Lip Balm includes BioFulmate™ a bioactive polyelectrolyte that improves bio-absorption in the human body. The balm is free of chemicals and artificial flavorings and helps soothe, hydrate, and protect lips, reduces irritation from ulcers and sores, and helps repair sun damage.
